As part of her 7th Annual Philadelphia Guitar Summit, "Bass Off", Monnette performed original compositions with the WME including pianist Barry Sames, percussionist Daryl Burgee, bassist Steve Green and vocalist Fatu Gayflor at Montgomery County Community College.

The Music Of Jymie Merritt And The Forerunners

The Tribute to Jymie Merritt was a collaboration which included WRTI, the Philadelphia Jazz Project, WXPN, Jazz Night In America and the World Cafe Live. The artists (L - R) included Mike Merritt, Warren McLendon, Alan Nelson, Colmare Duncan, Odean Pope and Terry Lawson. J. Michael Harrison (The Bridge) was our host. It was an awesome recognition for one of Philly's iconic musicians. JOB WELL DONE! :-)

Educator's Roundtable Discussion @ Clef Club

On Saturday November 7th, The Philadelphia Clef Club Of Jazz & Performing Arts hosted this inter-generational experience focused on strengthening the communication and interactions between artistic youth and the local & international talent pool in the city. Panelists included: (l-r) Lynn Riley, Tony Williams, Frank Machos, Nasir Dickerson, Dr. Aaron Anyabwile Love, Tim Warfield and Dr. Diane Turner (not pictured). This was part of the Clef Club Awards Weekend.

Tim Warfield @ Saunder's Park

Tim Warfield's group performed at the 7th Annual Lancaster Avenue Jazz & Arts Festival on July 20th. He was the finale to a daylong celebration coordinated by The Producer's Guild.

The music was hot, but the musicians and audience were HOTTER! The temperature was 96 degrees with a heat index of 105 degrees. Alfie Pollitt's Jazz Quartet included George Barron, Allen Nelson and Lee Smith. The concert was intended to both build awareness and raise funds for The John Coltrane House in Strawberry Mansion. This is a glimpse of what you missed! Leo Gadson & The Producer's Guild Inc. had another awesome "Jazz On The Square" event at The Ethical Society. The Azar Lawrence Quartet lit up Rittenhouse Square with sounds that had the audience astral travelling! The group consisted of Benito Gonzalez (piano), Essiet Essiet (bass), Gerry Gibbs (drums) and the legendary Azar Lawrence (saxophones).

Trumpet strongman Tony Smith stopped in from Delaware this week to share his licks with Chappy's Monday Night Jam crowd. These sessions are getting better every week as more folks continue to spread the word and come out to witness the mastery of these fine artists.
