Valray Productions has convened some of Philly's most talented Jazz Divas for her 6th Annual "Songstresses Celebrating Sisterhood" event. Divas Micha`l Beckham, Nina Bundy, Sherry Butler, Denise King, Monnette Sudler and Pearl Williams will be celebrating with Ms. Valray ... Jazz and Blues at it's BEST!

This event honors the memory of some of the music's greatest women performers and has become a fixture in the jazz community. This year's event is on Saturday, April 8, 2006 and will be hosted at The Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz on The Avenue of the Arts.

This year's honoree Ms.TRUDY PITTS is a composer, a teacher, a mentor, an intellectual, a uniquely charming individual and a "Bright Moment" for me.

LaRose Welcomes Young Musicians

In many of the discussions I've had about the "state of jazz in Philly", one of the most puzzling questions is "Where can young talented musicians get to play with and learn about the business from seasoned professionals"? The fact is that there are very few places. Tony Williams and the management at LaRose are definitely at the top of that very short list. Why is that? Isn't it clear that the young musicians are the future of the music? Post your feedback to these questions.

An exceptional young group, led by Nial Dijuliarso, performed at LaRose on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006. They were AWESOME!
