Tony Williams Scholarship Jazz Festival - 2008

Labor Day Weekend 2008

"The 18th Annual Tony Williams Scholarship Jazz Festival" has returned to Pennsylvania at the Ft. Washington Holiday Inn, (formerly the Convention Center) on Labor Day Weekend (Friday, August 29 - Monday, September 1).
The Jazz Festival will play host to such luminaries in the jazz world as James Lloyd & Curtis Harmon of Pieces of a Dream;
vocalists, Nina Bundy & Barbara Morrison;
saxophonists, Larry McKenna, Bruce Williams and Tim Warfield (Tim will feature his tribute band, One For Shirley... a tribute to Shirley Scott with organist, Pat Bianchi and drummer Byron Landham to name a few.)
Trumpet sensation, Leon Jordan, Jr.;
Violinists, Jorg Widmoser & John Blake will be featured in a Violin Summit.
This years honorees include renowned jazz radio personality, Bob Perkins and founder of the Mt. Airy Cultural Center, Tony Williams.
Special festival guests include Philadelphia’s own Bill Cosby and Grammy Award Winner, Cissy Houston.
There will be a Youth Jam Session, a pool side jam and a Sunday night dance and a MOnday Morning Jazz Breakfast — all to benefit the college bound graduates of the Mount Airy Cultural Center, Inc.
